Quick and Simple: A pop of colour

For those who limit themselves to natural/neutral looks all day everyday are seriously missing out! I think everyone needs to add a little colour in their make-up routine (well actually, A LOT of colour) because there are a million and one ways you can wear your make-up! I've come up to quick and easy  looks suitable for beginners that add a subtle pop of colour to their eyes. Personally, I think everyday should be purple glitter cut-crease day buuut we all know we got some minimalists out there. This one's for you!

TEAL:

Pair this look with a gorgeous coral lip colour and a lovely champagne toned highlight like Albatross by Nars and you're all set!

Step 1: Prime eyelids (that's a given). I swear by Essence Cosmetics I Love Stage Primer or my Nars Pro-Prime.

Step 2: Dust with loose/translucent powder. Apply a light brown to the crease and blend upwards. Finding a crease brush that works well with your eye shape is crucial! I recommend brushes by Real Techniques, Costal Scents, Morphe Brushes and Sigma.

Step 4: This step is optional. If you like a soft wash of colour, leave it that way, although I would never do that. Taking an extra step to add another colour gives the eye some definition and adds depth. It's worth the effort! I take a crease brush and wack it on and blend. NEVER skip blending your eyeshadow. It's a crime.

Step 5: Wing out your liner like you usually would. If you don't know how to, look at my previous blog post! Instead of drawing one wing, add another!

Step 6: Take a teal coloured kajal pencil liner and line the lower lash liner and the area in between both wings. Set with an eyeshadow of a similar shade to avoid smudging.

Step 7: Fill in your brows, add some lashes and you're done!
 PURPLE:

Rock this look with pink/taupe lips such as Lolita by Kat Von D, Taupe/Velvet Teddy lipsticks by Mac or go even bolder with a hot pink like All Fired Up (Mac)!

The steps are pretty self explanatory so I won't go into too much depth! This look gives your eyes a more rounded appearance because of the shimmer placed on the centre of the lid-giving it more shape and dimension. I placed a brown through the crease first and blended a light purple onto the inner and outer corners of the lid. I went quite heavy with the lower lash line to balance out the look. I then took NYX's Jumbo Eye pencil in milk and applied it to the inner corner of my eyes. After that, I threw on a bright purple shadow and pulled it out towards my inner corner and tear ducts. Don't forget to softy blend this out! When you're done: liner and lashes. Boom. Done!
 BLUE:

I don't even know why I used tape for this...it was unnecessary! I placed MUG'S Cocoa Bear shadow through the crease, Razzleberry on the outercorner and lemon drop on the inner corner. I was kind of imaging a soft sunset look when I began but then I decided to blend that baby out until it was very light and was just a chasm of warm tones diffused into one another. I used a blue pencil liner by Essence Cosmetics to draw in my wing and went over that with my Australis Cosmetics liquid liner. Then I ran out of false lashes and dug through my drawers and found this. It was kind of gross but did the job. Don't do that.

If you don't usually wear colour, recreate one of these looks with any colour you think would suit you best! Change up your routine, it's fun!
